The home’s solar hot water collectors were being retired. We disconnected them from the existing system, removed the solar pipework from both sides of the roof, and installed a new 315L electric storage water heater in its place.
- Solar collectors disconnected. Cleanly separated from the existing hot water system.

- Left safe. Redundant pipework made safe and capped off as required.

Here is how the changeover went, start to finish.
Disconnect the solar collectors
The solar hot water collectors were disconnected from the existing hot water system.
Remove solar pipework
Solar pipework was removed from both sides of the roof.
Make safe and cap off
Redundant pipework was made safe and capped off as required.
Install the new system
A new 315L electric storage water heater was installed.
