Shower hot and cold water put right
The shower’s hot and cold were the wrong way round. We found the back-to-front tails under the house and re-piped them to the correct copper risers.

The homeowner’s shower ran hot when it should be cold, and cold when it should be hot. We went under the house, traced the pipework feeding the shower mixer, and found the cause.

- Old section removed. We cut out a section of the hot and cold tails under the house.
- New pipework installed. Hot and cold were connected to the opposite copper risers going to the shower mixer.

Identify the problem
The hot and cold water at the shower were the wrong way round.
Trace it under the house
We located the hot and cold tails feeding the shower mixer and found they were back to front.
Cut out the wrong section
A section of the hot and cold tails feeding the shower mixer was cut out and removed.
Re-pipe and reconnect
New pipework was supplied and installed, with hot and cold connected to the opposite copper risers going to the shower mixer.
Corrected at the pipework, not the tap
When hot and cold are swapped, the fix is in the pipes feeding the mixer, not the shower itself. We re-piped the tails so the mixer is fed correctly from the right copper risers.
